Deadshot is has been a mainstay in the dc universe since the 1950’s. Created by Bob Kane, David Vern Reed and Lew Schwartz, Deadshot is synonymous for being the world’s deadliest marksman with little regard for human life. He has been an ever-present member of the suicide squad and the secret six lead by the mysterious Mockingbird.
The Deadshot costume we are going to breakdown is the newest iteration in the line of Deadshot costumes taken from the upcoming Suicide Squad film, hitting theatres August 5th, 2016. In may 2015 we got a glimpse of what the Deadshot costume. portrayed by Will Smith will look like. I have used these images released to put together a comprehensive Deadshot costume. As you see below I have provided links to all the pieces needed to complete this Deadshot costume with descriptions on why I choose the particular item.
For the Deadshot mask i went with a white paintball mask. it was the closest type of mask I could find that resembled the Deadshot mask. The best thing about is it’s completely white could you can draw or spray paint the design of the original. just use some masking tape or fine line tape to construct the design.
The mask I choose doesn’t have a back to it so I bought a white balaclava.
Red Long Sleeve t-shirt
I went with a simple burgundy t-shirt that I found on amazon. I wasn’t worried about the buttons around the chest because the armour will cover that.
Black Chest Armour
For the Deadshot costume chest armour, I choose a padded vest as it cut off around the shoulders just like the chest armour on the Deadshot costume and its black. It does have yellow strips but it’s not intrusive and it’s the closest black chest armour I could find at a reasonable price.
M4 Replica Airsoft
For the Deadshot costume weapon, i went with a m4 airsoft replica. It was quite hard to find a gun that looks like the Deadshot gun in the pictures. I think the gun I found looks similar but the colour is wrong. If you want your Deadshot costume to look the part, I would recommend buying some spray paint and replicate the design.
M4 Magazine Holster
The Deadshot outfit has two m4 magazine holsters on his left leg. I couldn’t find a leg holster strap for an m4 magazine but I did find m4 magazine holster. You can just buy a leg strap separately and attach the m4 magazine holster to them as they have an attachable clip.
Leg Holster For Handgun
I went for a simple leg holster I found on amazon as the leg holster Deadshot uses are leather which are hard to find and very expensive. The leg holster was cheap, the same colour as the Deadshot holster and looks great.
For the Deadshot pistol, because it’s a secondary weapon and the fact that we went all out on the m4 I went for a simpler option. The only thing I was looking for in the handgun was the colour and will it fit in the holster and the option I close met this criteria.
Black Half Finger Gloves
For the gloves, I went with a pair of half finger gloves to match the type of gloves Deadshot uses. They are black and have some nice padding to them, they are also very affordable and look great with the costume.
Upper Arm Protection
The upper arm protection pads where the hardest piece of this deadshot costume to find. I managed to find these police style shoulder and upper arm pads on eBay that will complement the costume nicely. Remember to buy two for both sides.
Black Tactical Combat Trousers/ Black Jeans
For the trousers, i went with some black levis jeans as I will wear these again after I’m finished with the Deadshot costume and it’s the closest type of trousers I could find based off the images. They also look good and suit the costume well and they are relatively affordable.
I went with some generic black boots i found on amazon. From what I saw from the images of Deadshot, his shoes dot have any custom styling to them so these will work fine.
Red Knee Shin Guards
I haven’t been able to find too many images of the type of guards he uses on his legs, the only information I could find is that they are red and black and they cover his knee and shin. With this in mind, i went with a pair of motorcycle knee and shin guards. They have some red accents but black is the primary colour. They strap onto the knee and shin in the same way as Deadshot’s does. Overall I think they work well with the costume as a whole.
