In this tutorial, I will show you how to create a realistic zombie bite using makeup and various other items. The process should take longer than an hour to put together if you follow all the steps correctly and don’t mess up. there are quite a few items need to make a zombie bite but the upside is that you can make quite a few zombie bites.
For this tutorial, the area we will be applying the bite will be the arm. You can have the zombie bite anywhere you want provided that you have somebody to apply it to areas you can’t reach. The area in which you place the infected zombie wound must be free from clothing as it will get messy.
Step 1 ~ Prep area – towel underneath to prevent mess
Step 2 ~ Draw an oval shape to where you want the zombie bite to be positioned.
Step 3 ~ Fill the entire area within the oval with spirit gum
Step 4 ~ Wait 3 minutes to allow the spirit gum to dry, then apply a thick layer of scar wax to the area. Apply some Petroleum jelly to your hands and smooth out the wax, try to get and even layer all around. The spatula will work best for this.
Step 5 ~ Once the wax is smooth and evenly spread, taper out the edges using the spatula.
Step 6 ~ The next step is to make teeth marks on the wax. To do this, start from the outside and dig inwards using the spatula.
Step 7 ~ With the excess wax, you can add any areas that might seem too thin or lacklustre.
Step 8 ~ Once you are happy with the mould you have created the next step is to add a layer of latex to the entire area, making sure to fill in any exposed skin within the zombie bite.
Step 9 ~ Once the latex as dried add some cotton to the centre of the bite, add little bits at a time until you are happy with what you got.
Step 10 ~ Add another layer of latex to contain the cotton, remember the more layers of cotton you add, you need to finish with a layer of latex.
Step 11 ~ Wait till the final layer of latex as dried, then we can proceed to add colour. Start by add red to the centre and outer edges.
Step 12 ~ Next add a dark red to the edges to the bite
Step 13 ~ Fill in the scraped areas or bite marks with a dark purple
Step 14 ~ Add some very black accents to the edges of the bite, Don’t go overboard
Step 15 ~ Blend some reds, yellows, greens and purple together and apply to the outer edges to simulate a bruising effect. Use your finger to clean up and further blend the areas together.
Step 16 ~ Add a very light yellow and white blended layer at the centre to simulate an infection
Step 17 ~ Add a healthy amount of blood scab to the bite marks
Step 18 ~ Get your stipple sponge and dab the other areas with the blood scab
Step 19 ~ Mix some yellow paint with some Petroleum jelly to great some gruesome puss and add it to the centre or the edges of the bite. The spatula works get to apply this.
